Escape room
Located just 10 minutes from The Nordic Pineapple, there is always something going on at Uncle Johns, from hayrides to apple picking to cider tasting. Be sure to stop by the gift store and grab some cider, donuts, and cookies for the ride home (Kjersten loves the molasses cookies). They also offer special events throughout the summer and fall. Visit their website for a full list of upcoming events.
Potter Park Zoo

train
"The Polar Express" is one of the most beloved Christmas stories of all time and there's a reason it's endured throughout the years as both a children's book and a feature film. But did you know you can take your very own Polar Express ride in Michigan, only 20 minutes from The Nordic Pineapple?

There is more to the Steam Railroading Institute than just The Polar Express. Be sure to come check out everything they have to offer.

victorian bar
Old Town is Lansing's original downtown and boutique district. The neighborhood's beautiful Victorian buildings are filled with unique galleries, tasty eateries, quaint boutiques, creative businesses, specialty shops, nightclubs, and more. This arts district hosts festivals, gallery walks, and farmers' markets throughout the year. This is the place for exceptional customer service and that little something extra. It's a great place to spend an afternoon or evening and it's just 30 minutes south of The Nordic Pineapple.
Concerts in the Park
On Wednesday evenings all summer long St Johns offers music in the park starting at 7 pm. The park is only about a mile from the inn. You can grab one of our guest bikes, a couple of guest chairs and enjoy an evening under the sky listening to local talent. Plan to arrive around 6 to get the best spot. All concerts are held rain or shine.

There will also be a Mint Pageant, parade and flea market. Take home a fun souvenir! You may also be able to make a craft to take home.

The festival takes place from Aug. 11 to 13.

Viking blowing horn
The Michigan Nordic Fire Festival was created in 2016 to celebrate winter, fire, family and fun. As the days start to get longer and days start to warm, an opportunity was created to get outside, throw spears, and try some of the wonderful beers and meads produced in the area.

The festival is capped off each year with the burning of a Viking longship, it is a must see for sure.

Note that the festival is outdoors, so bring a coat or umbrella if the weather looks bad.
