The first time Greg and I thought about staying at a bed and breakfast we wondered “Is it safe”. This is a fair question especially if you've only ever stayed at big hotels with big staffs and glitzy lobbies.

 We quickly learned that modern bed and breakfasts are more like small boutique hotels. They're professional, regulated and focused on the guest experience, especially their comfort and privacy. In most cases they offer a safer and more controlled environment than a large property.

The grand brick colonial home at 506 S Oakland St. has stood for over a century, witnessing countless stories unfold within its walls. But one of the most dramatic chapters occurred in early November 1992, when a devastating fire engulfed the home, leaving a lasting mark on its history.
