Meet Darci: The Heart Behind Your Stay

Darci brings over 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry to her role as Innkeeper at The Nordic Pineapple. A seasoned professional with a passion for exceptional guest experiences, Darci spent more than a decade as an interim innkeeper, managing properties from Maine to California. She has also served as the President of the Interim Innkeepers Network for six years, demonstrating her leadership and commitment to the industry.

Among her many accomplishments, Darci played a key role in transforming The Spring Lighthouse B&B in Northern Michigan from a start-up to a luxurious, 5-star retreat. With a strong background in marketing and networking, she excels at building lasting relationships and enhancing the brands she works with.

In her first year at The Nordic Pineapple, Darci has already made her mark. She brings warmth and creativity to every guest interaction and has helped us launch a couple of fun new themed weekends, including our popular Dungeons & Dragons and Board Game Weekends.

Outside of her professional life, Darci is a proud mother of five and grandmother to eleven. She enjoys spending time with her family and pursuing hobbies like needlework, cooking, and board and video gaming. It turns out that last one makes her the perfect host for game weekends.

Darci is proud to call The Nordic Pineapple home, and it shows in everything she does.

Meet the Owners: Greg & Kjersten

Hello! We are Greg and Kjersten, and The Nordic Pineapple has been our passion project since the very beginning. Running a bed and breakfast had been a longtime dream of ours, and in 2018 we finally took the leap, turning this beautiful historic home into a welcoming retreat for guests from near and far.

Seven years later, we are still just as passionate about it. With Darci now leading day-to-day operations, we have found a wonderful rhythm. We are at the inn most days, each running things a couple of days a week, but we also have a little more breathing room to do the things we love. Lately that has meant more travel, more time with friends and family, and soaking up as much time as we can with our kids.

Our daughter Gracie is wrapping up her senior year of high school and heading into a big next chapter this spring. Our son Garret is living and working in Grand Haven, and Dallas, our engineer, is out in the greater Detroit area making his mark. We could not be prouder of all three of them.

Greg still loves a good home improvement project and many of the tables in our dining room are proof of that. Kjersten works as a statistical programmer and is usually the one sneaking into the kitchen to bake something she will claim is "just for the guests."

We are so grateful for every guest who has walked through our doors over the years. The Nordic Pineapple is more than a business to us. It is a home, a community, and something we are genuinely proud of every single day.
